Position Overview:
Seeking a customer-centric Private Placements attorney with considerable experience working at an asset management firm advising an investment advisory business on managing assets for clients. The position will be part of the Private Investment Business Unit in the AEGON Asset Management US law department.Job Description
Responsibilities
Work closely with business unit leaders.
May participate in industry and professional groups on behalf of the company.
Prepares or advises on complex legal documents or briefs such as: leases, licenses, purchase or sales agreements, employment contracts, litigation pleadings, insurance contracts or other company legal documents.
Plans, conducts and supervises legal assignments which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the company’s business.
May communicate directly with regulators on behalf of the company.
Participates in the development and interpretation of departmental policies.
Works closely with top management advising on changes in laws and regulations. Evaluates the impact on the company and may develop the company’s position on the changes.
Retains and directs outside counsel.
May assist on other related work streams within the Private Investment Business Unit beyond private placements (private equity, structured/ABS deals, private fund formation, etc.)
May supervise lower-level attorney(s).
Qualifications
JD degree required.
State bar admission.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience.
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of candidate’s relevant experience and other job-related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
