We are recruiting for a Legal Assistant to provide support to two Workers' Compensation Attorneys in the Brea office. The ideal candidate will enjoy a high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for providing effective, accurate and timely legal secretarial support to assigned Attorneys, and assisting in overall support of the office as needed.
Attend to file details that are critical to optimal case outcome
Adhere to all applicable file level workflows, SOPs (standard operating procedures) and other file support standards
Comply with all applicable court/administrative body rules and requirements, including electronic filing and attorney directions
Maintain current, accurate calendar/docket and schedules
Schedule, reschedule, cancel and/or postpone depositions/hearings/med-legal appointments with needed parties in timely fashion
Provide timely and accurate preparation of outgoing mail, photocopying and scanning
Review (and escalate as appropriate) scanned mail in a timely and efficient manner
Follow up on status of submitted requests (i.e. for medical records, for discovery responses/requests, etc.)
Ensure that Attorneys are aware of upcoming deadlines, activities, events and escalate issues of concern to supervisor
Demonstrate proficiency with office systems and use of software applications
Apprise supervisor of need for assistance or of capacity to permit further assignments
Willingly assist supervisor, Legal Assistants, Law Office Administrator and/or Office Team Leader with additional tasks as needed
Adhere to The Hartford’s Human Resources guidelines, including attendance management (scheduled and unscheduled paid time off) and timely preparation of accurate timecards
Demonstrate professional diplomacy and integrity during interactions with colleagues, staff, clients and business partners
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 1 year of Workers' Compensation legal experience in private practice and/or corporate legal practice
Working knowledge of claims and litigation practices is preferred
Experience with E-filing strongly preferred
High School Diploma is required
Associates Degree or equivalent is preferred
Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys
*NOTE* This position is a remote work position but the selected candidate might be asked to work out of our Brea, California office when needed.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
