Reporting to the Managing Attorney, Contracts, you will assist with drafting and reviewing contracts and researching legal documents. You will handle a large volume of matters daily, interacting extensively with both internal clients and external legal counsel. In this role, you will need to demonstrate strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines. What You Will Do
Analyze, prepare, review, maintain, and/or process contracts, records, rights-of-way and easements, and related legal documents.
Provide information, guidance, and assistance to attorneys, field and operations personnel, and other company personnel relative to contractual rights and obligations.
Assist attorneys in preparing and organizing multiple legal documents for upcoming proceedings, cases, and trials. Prepare affidavits and correspondence, review legal documents, research legal issues and write summary or analysis of issues, discuss case details with outside counsel, and organizing files for multiple legal proceedings. Prepare documents for filing and file with appropriate party.
Support attorneys by gathering, reviewing, preparing, and summarizing case documents. Write summary or analysis of case documents and prepare reports and case files for legal matters including claims and regulatory proceedings.
Meet with attorneys, outside counsel, and clients to conduct research, investigate facts, and develop legal analysis for pending legal matters or proceedings. Prepare and file documents with the court or appropriate party.
Draft legal documents such as contracts, briefs, depositions, appeals, franchises, and pleadings.
Responsible for calendar and deadlines of activity in proceedings.
Perform investigations to fact-check information for legal matters and subpoenas by reviewing documents and other resources provided. Research facts and rules in customer complaint issues.
Organize and archive documents related to completed and ongoing cases.
Track changes in legal framework and provide timely updates on these changes.
Help prepare discovery responses.
Route and distribute annual 10Q drafts for review and edits, and compile comments for financial accounting.
Prepare necessary reporting for corporate risk management.
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Need
Preferred associate's degree paralegal studies
Experience drafting and preparing documents such as briefs, contracts, discovery responses.
Experience accessing, researching, and managing information in various databases and computer applications. Experience researching, online filing, managing, and extracting information from online websites.
Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of decimals and percentages.
Use keyboards (70 wpm).
Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position.
Experience and training related to:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Database access, maintenance, and reporting
- Developing and maintaining filing systems
- Legal terminology
- General business organization and structure
- Generally accepted standards for grammar and punctuation
Experience advising, assisting, interacting, and communicating effectively on legal issues and with clients and outside counsel.
Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task several active projects and manage deadlines.
Read and write fluently in English.
Minimum Paralegal Certification
Minimum Applicable driver's license
Mobility to travel in and around office surroundings.
Communicate and exchange verbal and written information or instructions.
Visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
