Are you looking to be a part of a team that makes a difference in the lives of hard-working men and women who have been injured at work? The Workers’ Compensation Board is seeking a Legal Secretary to join our Portland Regional Office team.
- Create and use varied correspondence formats and compose standard business correspondence.
- Proofread and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and/or documents.
- Establish computerized and/or manual filing systems.
- Manage the schedule and case load for an Administrative Law Judge.
- Receive and greet visitors and determine customer needs.
- Correspond with the public to receive/supply information and/or guidance on their claims.
- Monitor, purchase, and maintain inventory/supplies.
- Maintain accurate client files both electronic and physical files.
- Electronic recording of audio, video and in person hearings.
Successful candidates must be able to:
- Operate modern standard office equipment.
- Create spreadsheets and perform data management.
- Use computerized and/or manual filing systems.
- Create and use varied correspondence formats and compose standard business correspondence.
- Proofread and/or edit documents.
- Use alphabetical, numerical, chronological, and secondary filing systems.
- Work with deadlines and schedules.
- Determine and requisition inventory/supplies.
- Determine facts, detect errors and irregularities, and take appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.
- Communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:
- 1) competency in applying a general knowledge of the principles and practices of office processes and administrative functions to perform routine secretarial support tasks, and
- 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.
