
Dauphin County Social Services for Children and Youth is now accepting applications for the Staff Attorney 3 position. The starting pay rate for this position is commensurate with experience. The Children and Youth Agency Staff Attorney represents the Agency on certain Agency legal matters assigned by the Agency Administrator or the Administrator’s designee. The Staff Attorney represents the Agency before the Dauphin County Juvenile Court during review hearings, dependency hearings, emergency shelter care hearings, safety hearings, dispositional review hearings, and permanency review hearings. Additionally, the Staff Attorney represents the Agency in effectuating inter-county transfers, represents the Agency in Dauphin County Orphans’ Court for cases of involuntary termination of parental rights and associated appeals, and represents the Agency in abuse appeals and foster care appeals at the Bureau of Hearings and Appeals.
Minimum Education, Experience and Training Requirements:
- EDUCATION/TRAINING- Graduation from an approved school of law and certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; or preparatory steps to become a member thereof. Continued employment is conditional upon the obtaining of such certificate of admission.
- WORK EXPERIENCE- Prior experience with dependency, delinquency, and other Juvenile Court matters preferred with a minimum of three years of courtroom experience.
Other Requirements:
At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
