The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for analyzing research and reports on potential conflicts of interest as a key component of the law firm’s new business intake and lateral hiring processes.  The Conflicts Analyst works with Intake Attorneys to resolve any identified potential or actual conflicts of interest.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews searches and reports generated by Conflicts Researchers for lateral attorney candidates and incoming Staff, Project Attorneys, and Summer/Fall Associates, using the Firm’s conflicts and intake databases.

  • Analyzes and ranks the potential conflicts of interest for further review and resolution by Intake Attorneys, Director of ICS, and/or the Intake Partner.

  • Assists with preparation of reports regarding conflicts resolution that may be required upon initial hire.

  • Conducts factual research using internal and external resources, which may include researching corporate relationships and discussions with attorneys and/or legal support staff to gather information and/or clarification regarding a party or matter.

  • Collaborates with the ICS team and the Office of General Counsel to research, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest. 

  • Performs conflicts research, database maintenance, data entry, and other projects as requested by the New Hire Conflicts Manager.

  • Continues development of skills, process improvements, and knowledge of the applicable rules regarding conflicts of interest and trends/changes in the legal industry. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to compile, review, filter, synthesize, and interpret information which is varied in content and format.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the applicable rules of professional conduct regarding conflicts of interest.

  • Ability to think independently, exercise good judgment, and make decisions when appropriate.

  • Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills and/or working knowledge of conflicts of interest.

  • Strong research skills using internal and external resources.  Proven aptitude to quickly learn new applications.

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to produce a high-quality and accurate work product with minimal supervision in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and extremely tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work effectively with the Firm’s attorneys and staff at all levels.

  • Ability to write effective business correspondence that presents information and/or responds to questions from attorneys or staff in a professional and courteous manner. 

  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Paralegal degree/certificate; a combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered.

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a legal environment; previous conflicts experience beneficial.

$50,000.00 - $70,000.00
