Job Description

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Human Resources Division, Health Services Unit. This position(s) primary purpose is to manage the DEA's computerized Health Unit Medical Information System or Electronic Health Record System to ensure that appropriate staff meet required physical standards, maintain applicant medical examinations information, and update the systems used to generate periodic medical examinations packages.

Duties

As a Health Unit Program Coordinator, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Develops tools promoting effective coordination of the records management program.
  • Advises upper management on all aspects of the Medical Record Program including a wide variety of medical and legal issues.
  • Adapts analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity. Revises program operations for consistency with strategies and program emphasis.
  • Serves as the Contracting Officers Technical Representative (COTR) for all contracts related to the Health Unit Medical Information System records management program or the Electronic Health Record System and its operation.
  • Conducts functional inspections for compliance with policies, plans, regulations, and work planning.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement.

Applicants applying for the GS-12 must meet one of the following requirements:

A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-11 grade level.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Overseeing electronic medical health record systems; 2) Coordinating with stakeholders to meet program objectives; 3) Managing contractual performance; 4) Preparing policy memoranda and instructions related to medical records; and 5) Ensuring medical record program compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
