Job Description

The Counsel provides accurate, creative and implementable advice to various strategic business units and corporate functions on corporate and commercial matters affecting the Company and its subsidiaries and affiliates. As Counsel, you will be the principal attorney providing direct support to one or more SBUs and/or functions.

You will report to Senior Counsel and be based at our headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in analysis of legal issues and their relationship to the business/function and development of practical solutions and action plans.

  • Addresses legal risk in business-centric ways, developing processes, strengthen partnerships, and advance opportunities.

  • Be a strategic business partner to review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of commercial agreements to meet business and legal requirements. Continuously improves standard form agreements and legal processes to help scale the legal function.

  • Conduct legal reviews of marketing and promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Collaborate closely with marketing, compliance, and product teams to provide clear guidance and recommendations, ensuring that all materials uphold PPG's legal standards and protect its brand reputation.

  • Supports, coaches, and trains sales, supply chain, quality, marketing and other functional teams on contract negotiations, commercial best practices, legal and regulatory updates, and compliance.

  • Interpret complex laws, rulings, and regulations and provide expertise to individuals and businesses on legal issues to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Interact with PPG colleagues, SBU/functional associates and management in performance of the role; Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • A Juris Doctor degree is required.

  • Must have 7+ years of relevant experience and expertise in key areas of the law required for the position.

  • Ability to develop knowledge in other areas of the law, as required.

  • Experience at a large law firm as well as in-house experience.

  • Prior experience working with government contracts preferred.

  • Ability to quickly develop a broad and detailed knowledge of PPG's products, businesses, methods of production, and product safety programs.

  • Travel will be minimal - up to 10%.
