
The Legal Support Specialist will provide administrative support to the Haven Legal Department, which consists of one full-time attorney. Administrative support includes clerical support, correspondence, records, email and document management, assistance with document production, research, and contract and other compliance matters. The Haven Legal Department provides legal representation and services to Haven for Hope and does not represent or provide legal services to those receiving services at Haven for Hope or in the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes.
- Oversees all aspects of records management, including document production and retention.
- Assists with contract review and develops compliance-related checklists.
- Oversees and is responsible for the Contract Management System.
- Assists the department with legal matters including insurance related filings and claims.
- Conducts interviews as directed and prepares summaries of witness statements.
- Responds to Requests for Information received by phone, email, or in writing.
- Provides support in responding to subpoenas and court orders.
- Performs administrative office functions including answering, screening, and directing phone calls; managing mail; and printing or copying documents.
- Supports Haven’s Legal Department in governmental, regulatory, contract, and other compliance matters.
- Supports administration of programs, procedures and policies, maintains records relating to those programs, procedures and policies, and updates Legal regarding status of such matters.
- Tracks deadlines and maintains internal calendar for projects, assignments, and agreements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Qualified candidates will have prior work experience providing administrative support; prior experience working in the legal field, customer service, and/or working for nonprofits.

LICENSES
Preferred candidates will possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation, and proper insurance coverage on the automobile used for work. Travel within the city and its surrounding areas may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and this position may occasionally require tasks to be performed in non-climate-controlled environments. This is an in-office position that is not eligible for remote work.
