
Associate General Counsel - Compliance

Position Summary
The role of Associate General Counsel is an integral part of the legal team. The ideal candidate will embrace the diverse issues of varying complexity that the department handles. As the Associate General Counsel, you will provide critical legal counseling and support on compliance matters.

Essential Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day delivery of the compliance function, ensuring quality and timely outcomes
- Work with outside law firm to establish and maintain global compliance framework in company relative to data security / privacy / cyber, ESG, anti-bribery, health and safety, employment, code of conduct, sexual harassment, whistleblower, etc.
- Strong emphasis on data protection
- Create or enhance company training on compliance matters; collaborate with lines of business on training content and distribution
- Working closely with business partners to drive focused continuous improvements across the business
- Serve as ambassador / lead advisor to Company on ethics and compliance matters
- Active partnership with company CISO
- Review and/or manage third party service relationships in the compliance field
- 20% commercial contracting support, including data schedules
- Managing audit priorities and projects, ensuring effective resolution of complex compliance queries
Competency Requirements
- Ability to provide practical legal advice to business personnel at all levels of an organization
- Strong working knowledge of corporate, contract and federal laws
- Experience working effectively with senior level management
- Team player who is willing to pitch in wherever needed
- Comfortable and confident in thinking independently and making his/her own decisions
- Ability to quickly and accurately to recognize areas of risk/opportunity
- Excellent communication skills, both speaking and writing
- Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Works well with both legal and business personnel
- Confident presenting to both senior business professionals and external statutory bodies
Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements
- Experience in a global compliance in-house legal function
- At least six years of legal experience
- Law degree from accredited law school and admitted to a state / country bar
- Combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
- Excellent judgment and insight, attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Ability to devise creative practical solutions to difficult legal/business issues
- Ability to work well with and gain respect of business/project staff
- Excellent written and oral skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- Time flexibility in delivering legal support to offices in different time zones
- Self-motivation and the ability to establish and execute on priorities
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This is a remote position in the US. We are open to candidates in various states, with the exception of those residing in the following: AK, DC, DE, ME, NH, NM, OK, HI, MS, MT, NV, NE, ND, SD, VT, WY, WV
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $165,000 - $175,000 annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
