Job Description

BODi is on a mission to build the Health Esteem Category! Having just launched a new brand (from Beachbody to BODi), a new platform, and a new app where fitness and nutrition is supported by positive mindset content, BODi breaks from the fitness and diet industry and ushers in the era of Health Esteem. Health Esteem specifically rejects the legacy fitness and diet industry playbook of pursuing a healthy lifestyle based on self-criticism – a playbook Beachbody used to abide by. But after observing the uptick in mental health challenges since the pandemic and seeing that 74% of Americans remain overweight or obese today, despite the efforts of the fitness industry, BODi had to make a change.

We are seeking a Group Vice President, Legal Affairs to serve as a broad-based utility player and trusted business partner to our General Counsel and executive team. This is a generalist role designed to provide coverage across core in-house legal needs, allowing company to thrive, legal department to excel, and the business to move with confidence.

The right candidate is curious, practical, and fast to solution—able to resolve new issues, partner with the business, and handle projects independently while knowing when to escalate. This role is about coverage and leverage for the GC and the executive team while being a mentor throughout the legal department and working with all levels of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing: Provide end-to-end legal support for marketing, advertising, and brand campaigns across our streaming fitness platform and supplement lines. Review claims, promotions, social and influencer content, and talent partnerships to ensure compliance with FTC rules, consumer protection laws, and industry standards balancing compliance with federal and state laws with enabling speed of the business campaigns.

  • Contracting: Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of agreements, with emphasis on commercial contracts, vendor and supplier agreements, partnership and talent agreements.

  • Litigation: Manage litigation with outside counsel, ensuring business-aligned strategies and efficient resolution.

  • Insurance: Oversee corporate insurance programs and claims management.

  • Cross-Functional Partner: Work seamlessly with finance, operations, technology, marketing, and business teams.

  • SEC/Public Company Experience (Bonus): Securities compliance or reporting experience is a plus, but not required.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school; admitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

  • In-House Breadth: 12+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience, with significant time in-house at a consumer-facing company.

  • Proven ability to support and amplify the GC while operating independently when needed.

  • Executive presence— strong communication and relationship-building skills; comfortable interacting with senior leadership, framing issues with clear options, and presenting solutions without overcomplicating.

  • Generalist fluency in commercial contracts, marketing, and corporate governance.

  • Marketing/Advertising Law: demonstrated expertise in FTC rules, consumer protection laws, and advertising review, including claim substantiation, endorsements/influencers, social media, and promotions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver crisp, business-savvy advice in fast-moving environments.

  • Culture Fit: pragmatic, curious, and business-friendly solutioner. Thrives in a lean, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial public company environment.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape legal strategy at the intersection of health, fitness, and consumer products.

  • A remote-first culture with colleagues across the U.S.

  • Direct visibility with senior executives and the board.

  • A mission-driven environment, focused on transforming consumer health and wellness.
