Summary

We are looking for an exceptional paralegal to join our legal team. To be successful in our group, you must be a meticulous, highly motivated self-starter with strong time management and communication skills.  You will manage a wide variety of concurrent tasks with varying deadlines regarding corporate transactions, contract support and legal department operations.  This is an important role in a high functioning legal group operating in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Miami, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Support our robust M&A activity, from due diligence, through signing and closing, to managing and tracking post-closing items

  • Work closely with our attorneys to draft, review, and manage a wide range of legal documents

  • Triage inbound legal requests to provide appropriate guidance and further direction

  • Track and manage legal accruals in coordination with outside counsel and internal finance teams

  • Oversee the administration of the legal team’s eBilling platform, including invoice review, matter setup, and vendor support

  • Conduct legal research and summarize legal documents for multiple attorneys or other members of the legal department

  • Support legal operations initiatives, including playbook updates, template maintenance, and process improvements

  • Own department mail management – read, sort and distribute incoming mail; ensure outgoing mail is sent timely

  • Assist with various legal projects and additional ad hoc duties as needed

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree

  • Professional paralegal certification

  • 3-5 years of experience, preferably split between a law firm and in-house

  • Strong work ethic

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion

  • Proficient using legal research tools and software

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team

  • Experience at a financial services firm is a big plus

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Corient seeks to make reasonable accommodations that enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties when possible.

  • This position may require the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

  • This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.

U.S. Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation; any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation.

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For U.S. employment opportunities, Corient hires U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Corient will require proof of work authorization.

  • Corient participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. If E-Verify cannot confirm that you are authorized to work, this employer is required to give you written instructions and an opportunity to contact Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or Social Security Administration (SSA) so you can begin to resolve the issue before the employer can take any action against you, including terminating your employment. Employers can only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.

  • Must be willing to execute Corient’s Employee Agreement or Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, which require, among other things, post-employment obligations relating to non-solicitation, confidentiality, and non-disclosure.
