Wilson Sonsini is hiring for a Senior Business Development Analyst position within our Marketing Department.  This is a great opportunity for an individual who is interested in developing a career in law firm business development and gaining exposure to the work of many of the world's most innovative technology and life sciences companies.

The Senior Business Development Analyst supports the execution of marketing and business development initiatives for the firm’s Emerging Company Venture Capital Practice (ECVC)  and serves as a key member of the Corporate business development team.

This individual plays a critical role in elevating the profile of the practice group, both internally and externally, and supporting initiatives that contribute to client and pipeline development. The role works closely with the broader marketing team, leveraging resources to execute, track, and measure the impact of campaigns and initiatives. Success in this position requires a balance of strategic thinking, strong analytical skills and disciplined execution,  and the flexibility to adapt to evolving firm needs. This position reports to the Senior Business Development Manager for ECVC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Senior Business Development Manager:

  • Support and drive marketing and business development initiatives for the ECVC practice.

  • Conduct in-depth research on markets, industries, companies, and individuals.

  • Deliver data using the appropriate firm technologies and services, including external research databases (CRM (Salesforce), IntroHive, Intranet, Library Services, Pitchbook, Capital IQ, IPO Vital Signs, Deal Point Data, etc.)

  • Contribute to the execution of winning pitches in conjunction with firm’s Pitch & Proposal team.

  • Implement best practices around event preparation, follow-up and ROI analysis.

  • Work closely with attorneys to ensure they are prepared for events, including developing briefing materials on attendees.

  • Assist in tracking results and preparing responsive reports and analyses.

  • Help identify and curate key attorney experience for league tables, deal sheets, pitches, award submissions, and other opportunities.

  • Liaise with internal departments and collaborate on cross-departmental projects when needed.

  • Support firmwide marketing and business development initiatives when necessary.

  • Act as a resource and informal mentor to junior team members.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional services business development function supporting transactional practices.

  • Experience supporting corporate practices and supporting events a big plus.

  • Strong customer service ethic.

  • Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Extremely detail-oriented, with superior proofreading and fact checking skills.

  • Efficient, highly organized and able to stay productive under pressure with tight deadlines.

  • Proficient in the use of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and database applications.

  • Aptitude for learning new software, systems and procedures quickly.

  • Able to work independently and in team environments.

  • Strong enterprise skills and initiative to identify opportunities and act on them.

  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and a deep curiosity about technology and life sciences.

The primary location for this job posting is in Austin, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:Austin, Century City, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle: $91,800 - $124,200 per year. Palo Alto, San Francisco: $102,000 - $138,000 per year.

The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
