In this role, you'll be the primary lawyer for Books subscription programs like Kindle Unlimited. Working directly with the business, you'll provide day-to-day and strategic advice on program development, content licensing, and regulatory and contractual compliance.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal counsel for Books subscription programs, including Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading
- Provide legal guidance on program development, pricing, and regulatory compliance
- Negotiate and draft content licensing agreements with rightsholders
- Manage consumer disputes and coordinate with outside counsel and internal litigation teams on pending litigation
- Partner with cross-functional teams (PR, public policy) on go-to-market strategies
- Advise on AI-powered features

- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience working at a corporate law firm
- Experience in intellectual property or content licensing
- Experience in digital media, publishing, or subscription services
- Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in fast-paced environments
- Experience with product launches and go-to-market legal strategies
- Experience managing consumer disputes and litigation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
