Job Overview

A respected litigation firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to a team of attorneys. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for someone with a strong background in civil litigation support, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering professional service in a fast-paced legal environment. Schedule and Shift:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
  • 37.5 hours/week
  • Full-Time On-site role

 


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Support 3 or more attorneys with legal and administrative tasks
  • Draft and proofread correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule depositions, and mediations
  • Transcribe digital dictation and maintain accurate records
  • Coordinate and request case-related information from involved parties
  • Open, sort, and respond to mail and incoming communications
  • File court documents by state/federal rules
  • Work collaboratively with other legal assistants and firm staff
  • Prioritize and manage competing deadlines effectively
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by attorneys or firm leadership


Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Legal Assistant experience required
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or certification in legal administration or paralegal studies preferred
  • Familiarity with civil defense litigation, court deadlines, and filing procedures
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Experience with digital transcription software
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of case management software is a plus
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred
  • Professional, client-focused demeanor and strong customer service skills
