Job Description

  Position: Managing Attorney
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Position Overview: Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of state contested litigation, pleadings, placements, and associated client communications. This role involves supervising a team, ensuring compliance with state standards, and driving process improvements in litigation practices. The manager will work closely with the firm’s attorneys, client services, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations across all state-related matters, with a focus on delivering quality service to clients and ensuring all cases and processes meet firm standards.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pleadings and Placements:
    • Oversee the approval  and assignment of pleadings and placements for Indiana state.
    • Manage the daily  approval process for placements, ensuring timely and accurate handling.
    • Review and approve  pleadings and oversee volume report management, collaborating with attorneys       for availability.
    • Manage the Q4 report and approval process for placements.
  2. State Contested Litigation:
    • Review contested  litigation reports daily, including the 339 diary and 332 litigation       responses.
    • Oversee motion  practices, including summary judgments, counterclaims, and follow-up       actions with client services.
    • Handle escalated  contested counterclaims and complex motions.
    • Supervise trial  preparation and delegate responsibilities as needed, providing training       on trial procedures.
  3. Client Communications:
    • Ensure timely responses  to client inquiries, providing updates on file statuses and addressing       general questions.
    • Approve motions for summary judgment and oversee trial preparations and phone conferences.
    • Handle and respond to direct emails from court clerks and judges.
  4. State and Legislative Involvement:
    • Actively participate in  state and creditor bar associations, including monthly meetings.
    • Monitor changes in state work standards, analyze impacts on the firm, and update internal       systems and processes.
    • Ensure compliance with new laws and regulations, modifying firm processes as needed.
    • Manage Attorney Spotlight report to oversee Indiana court process.  
  5. Team Leadership:
    • Manage Attorney       Spotlight report to oversee attorney files 
    • Supervise and manage the       in-attorney team, providing guidance, performance reviews, and addressing       escalations.
    • Oversee employee       relations, including interviewing and training of new hires.
    • Manage the development       and implementation of attorney training programs, ensuring compliance       with firm standards.
  6. Case and Trial Management:
    • Oversee case assignments, ensuring all cases are compliant with firm standards and       guidelines.
    • Handle the processing  and review of counterclaims and client audits.
    • Ensure all cases are followed through with accurate documentation and timely follow-ups.
  7. Internal Coordination and Audits:
    • Work closely with Michelle Hendrix and other team members to ensure proper processing of case placements, trial preparation, and motions.
    • Review and audit client files, ensuring compliance with firm policies and applicable state laws.
    • Coordinate discovery processes and ensure proper training for other team members.
