Principal Intellectual Property

What You'll Do:

This role supports business operations, sales and licensing for the AT&T Intellectual Property (IP) team, managing sales opportunities, supplier relationships, software applications and interactions of the team with business units. Deep technical knowledge is not required but the individual needs to be aware of AT&T’s core technology areas and help identify how AT&T can best protect and monetize AT&T’s intellectual property.

What You'll Need:

Intellectual Property (IP) Sales and Licensing:

• Monetization of intellectual property is a complex balance of internal and external business relationships requiring critical judgement to close multi-million-dollar deals. This role is expected to build relationships with executives from the world’s top companies and position AT&T’s intellectual property for purchase or licensing, matching their needs for business development, technological demands, and intellectual property protection.

This role will focus on various aspects of AT&T’s intellectual property: 

• Technology Licensing – AT&T has developed hundreds of software platforms to support internal operations.  This role will focus on identifying companies and positioning key platforms to license out.
• Brand Licensing - This role will work with other companies to leverage the AT&T brand to promote their products and services. This role will help manage and accelerate our co-branded credit card partnerships.
• Patent Licensing – AT&T has developed a large patent portfolio.  This role will partner with the IP legal team to support the implementation of patent protection agreements for monetization and non-monetization purposes.
• This role will also support internal platforms used by the Intellectual Property organization for daily operations.  Some of the platforms include Salesforce, Power BI, and Quickbase.
• This role will include some travel to conferences and events to maximize face-to-face relationship building with both company executives and third-party partners.

• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 2-5+ years of related experience.
• A problem-solving mindset and critical thinking ability are the most important qualifications for this role.
• Individual should be open to new ideas and ways of doing things.
• Ability to use Excel functions, Power BI, PowerPoint is desired.
• Ability to learn new applications and use them to support the Intellectual Property team.
• Sales and licensing experience is preferred
