Job Description

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support our regulatory compliance and pro-competitive strategy related to Amazon Web Services.

In this role, you will work directly with business, public policy, and legal teams to develop pro-competitive strategies and regulatory compliance plans related to the AWS business, including matters such as artificial intelligence, interoperability, service provider switching and other cloud related regulatory and compliance topics. Duties include: identifying existing and emerging legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies; advising on regulatory and compliance matters; providing input on business and policy strategy; analyzing and contributing to AWS policy positions around the world; and implementing compliance plans addressing new regulatory requirements. Your role will give you the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders around the world.

You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. - 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience with cloud technology and regulatory compliance and strategy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound and practical business judgment
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
