WHAT YOU'LL DO:
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This role supports our in-house legal and compliance functions by managing a variety of legal documents, assisting with regulatory matters, and acting as a legal liaison across departments as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist in drafting, reviewing, editing, and maintaining a wide range of legal documents, including nondisclosure agreements, customer and vendor contracts, and internal corporate documents.
Support contract management processes, including tracking contract status, renewals, and compliance obligations.
Coordinate with internal departments to gather information and ensure timely execution of legal documents and deliverables.
Conduct basic legal and regulatory research as requested by Legal and Compliance leadership.
Organize and maintain electronic legal files, databases, and document management systems, including SharePoint.
Support the Legal and Compliance team with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and tracking project timelines.
Monitor regulatory updates and assist in implementing necessary changes to internal policies and procedures.
Provide general legal and compliance support on special projects, including insurance-related matters.
Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external legal counsel or vendors, ensuring clear communication and follow-up.
Assist in the notarization of legal documents, if certified, or obtain notary certification within a designated timeframe.
Proactively identify opportunities to streamline legal operations and embrace emerging legal technologies, including AI-driven tools.
Follow all policies and procedures for the department and Company, including personnel policies and expectations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; paralegal certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or compliance professional in a law firm, in-house legal department, or the consumer financial services industry.
Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining a variety of legal documents, such as NDAs, contracts, vendor agreements, and corporate policies.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance structures.
Experience with contract lifecycle management.
Openness to leveraging AI tools and technology in legal workflows.
Flexibility to support additional legal and compliance projects, including insurance matters and general legal operations.
Team-oriented with a strong desire to build collaborative relationships across the organization.
Self-motivated, proactive, and client-service driven.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SharePoint is a plus.
Notary public certification, or willingness to become certified, is preferred.
