- Summary
Uses well established legal procedures and precedents to perform a variety of paraprofessional legal functions. Performs a wide variety of difficult clerical and secretarial duties.
- Essential Functions
- Assist with document preparation such as contracts, leases, motions, notices, interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission or other legal documents;
- Establish and maintain system of document organization, including a computerized system;
- Organize and coordinate trial settings for the office;
- Develop, recommend, and implement procedures to facilitate workflow;
- Assist attorneys with analysis and drafting of documents to Federal, State and Local governmental agencies and offices;
- Assist attorneys in drafting letters to the Texas Attorney General relating to requests for governmental records under the Texas Public Information Act and other state statutes.
- Gathers, organize and review documents responsive to requests for governmental records under the Texas Public Information Act for possible exceptions and in assisting in the initial determination as to which requests require a request for an opinion from the Texas Attorney General.
- Redacts or reviews redaction of confidential records before releasing documents to the public; and
- Perform related duties as required.
- Qualifications
Completion of a two year college program as a legal assistant with an additional one to three years experience performing paraprofessional legal duties or any combination of relevant education and experience enabling the employee to perform the functions outlined above.
Must have a valid driver’s license- Knowledge and Abilities

Maintain the ability to:- Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequently carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally carry up to 25 pounds.
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees.
- Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing.
- Frequently reach at or below shoulder height and occasionally reach above shoulder height.
