Duties- Serves as a principal legal advisor for DCAA in civilian personnel law matters and provides information, legal interpretations, consultation and advice.
- Renders legal advice and coordinated legal opinions with respect to questions, regulations, practices, actions, or other legal matters within DCAA's purview.
- Advises on, assists, and coordinates the efforts of DCAA non-attorney specialists and management officials when performing management representation duties.
- Independently plans, prepares, organizes, and provides legal representation for DCAA and its top executives in ADR, administrative litigation and claims.
- Provides information, legal interpretations, consultation and advice on matters involving administrative law and performs other duties related to the operations of DCAA OGC.

Basic Requirement: First professional law degree (J.D.) accredited by the American Bar Association; and Active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. (A copy of the applicant's bar card or letter from the bar showing admission and good standing may be acceptable evidence)
Specialized Experience:
GS-14 - In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants shall have professional legal experience in excess of 3 years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume.Specialized experience is defined as: providing legal advice to management on a wide range of federal employment statutes and conducting in-depth legal research to analyze complex issues; OR demonstrated experience preparing legal documents, such as briefs and memoranda, while also negotiating agreements and settlements with third parties; OR litigating cases before administrative bodies or federal courts, or providing direct support as part of a trial team.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

a. SF-50: Current and former federal employees, including those currently working for the agency, must submit their SF-50 (Notification of Personnel Action) reflecting their highest grade held on a permanent basis for at least 52 weeks, tenure, and appointment type. Failure to provide this document may result in disqualification.
b. College Transcripts - If you are using education as a substitution for specialized experience, you must provide your college transcripts.
c. Veterans Preference Documentation
- You must submit a copy of your DD Form-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty", showing the dates of active duty service, type of discharge and the character of service. Alternatively, If you are a current military member in active duty service and do not have a copy of your DD Form-214, you must submit a written documentation (certification) from your branch of service certifying that you are expected to be discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions no later than 120 days after the date the certification is submitted with your application for this position. The certification should also include your rank, dates of active duty service and what the condition of discharge is thought to be.
- If claiming 10-point preference and/or are a 30% or more Disabled Veteran, you must submit both a DD Form-214 or expected discharge documentation as described above AND a copy of a letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or your branch of service certifying the presence of service-connected disability and indicating the percentage of disability
