What You'll Do:
The Paralegal will assist the in-house attorneys in the Legal Department in day-to-day business matters concerning, but not limited to, bankruptcy, loan documentation, internal/external client service, litigation, and internal/external inquires. This is a mid-level role that requires prior paralegal experience.
With oversight from in-house counsel, handle loan-related bankruptcy issues including, but not limited to, bankruptcy docket reviews, communications with the Trustee and/or opposing counsel, Motions for Authority to Procure Financing, Motions for Relief, and Proofs of Claim.
Support the Asset Management Department by drafting correspondence and communicating with third parties about the company’s collateral.
Draft contracts, amendments, addenda, memoranda, correspondence for attorney review.
Respond to inquiries from and communicate with government agencies from various states.
Conduct research using resources such as legal documents, online databases, and other legal references.
Support in-house attorneys and outside counsel with litigation management.
Assist in processing legal actions served upon FIRST including subpoenas, court orders, bankruptcy-related notifications, and motions.
Review documents to determine deadlines and to ensure conformity with departmental procedures and requirements.
Qualifications:
3 plus years paralegal experience: bankruptcy experience strongly preferred; corporate or finance environment a plus
Paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program preferred; comparable experience with sophisticated legal transactions may be substituted
Bachelor’s degree required
Organizational and analytical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates emotional intelligence as self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship management
Exhibits positive attitude
Capable of interacting with employees at all levels
Self-starter who shows initiative and multitasks effectively
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Advanced skills in Word, Excel and Outlook

Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this role is $71,000 - $80,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
