GURSTEL LAW FIRM, P.C. IS LOOKING FOR A SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT

JOB SUMMARY as the Senior Legal Assistant you will complete complex legal tasks, which require an advanced level of legal knowledge and experience. You will be drafting and reviewing files while assisting attorneys for miscellaneous needs and performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: 

  • Document account/file activity in accordance with the Firm and client policies into the Firm’s system of record.
  • Responsible for investigation and case preparation, interviews, legal research, document production, and e-discovery 
  • Draft and generate motions, pleadings and other legal documents for attorney review.
  • Monitor litigation files to final adjudication. 
  • Ensure all scheduled hearings are calendared and assist attorneys in hearing preparation. 
  • File documents with the courts via the traditional and electronic filings methods, as applicable 
  • Assist attorneys in litigation, including counterclaims, court documents, calendaring of court hearings, and hearing preparation
  • Handle client inquiries and update pertaining to individual files
  • Review and interpret legal documents 
  • Follow up with courts and other legal departments regarding filed documents and hearings
  • Perform general clerical duties
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree OR legal certification preferred.
  • Basic understanding of the legal process. 
  • Responsible individual who can work both independently and in a team environment. 
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with basic office hardware such as scanners, fax machine, copiers, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior written and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervisory skills preferred
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and dependability. Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, lift, or carry up to 20 pounds

TRAVEL  This position requires up to 0-5% travel. Travel excludes local commute.
