- VAWA Grant-Funded Law Clerk
The City of Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office seeks law students for grant-funded legal clerkships with the Domestic Violence Unit. The position provides a unique and unforgettable opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a public-sector environment. It is also a chance to assist attorneys who represent the citizens and victims of domestic crimes in the City of Cleveland.
- Examples of Duties
Domestic Violence Law Clerks will engage in and/or assist with the following tasks: legal research and motion practice; criminal case management; administrative support; court proceeding observations; citizen/victim interactions; appellate work; issuance of subpoenas and other duties as assigned.

Clerking for the City of Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office, Domestic Violence Unit, offers broad exposure to the legal profession in an environment widely renowned for its challenge, excellence, creativity, integrity, decency and public service. The Domestic Violence Unit is staffed with specially trained prosecutors who are charged with the task of prosecuting domestic crimes. This Unit collaborates with the Cleveland Police Department’s Domestic Violence Detective Unit and the Cuyahoga County Witness Victim’s Services to promote victim safety and prosecution of these cases.
As a law clerk with the City of Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office, Domestic Violence Unit, you will assist the domestic violence attorneys by performing legal research, drafting legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, appeals, and issuing subpoenas. This position is grant funded and will end when the grant ends. The hours for this position are variable but between 8:00am -5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited law school seeking a juris doctorate degree.
