Job Description

Title: Commercial Paralegal
FLSA Status: Non-exempt / hourly
Location: Hartford, CT (hybrid schedule)
 
SUMMARY:
To answer inquires received primarily by telephone, in person and via email from agents and their staffs in a friendly, efficient and timely manner regarding preparation of title insurance polices and related title insurance, closing and software issues. Assist and all aspects of commercial real estate closings, including policy preparation, closing coordination, drafting settlement statements, ordering payoffs, adjusting taxes, survey readings, document collation and recording.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  1. Handle high liability policy production, closing assistance and escrow related duties.
  2. Answer routine and extraordinary questions regarding title insurance, closing matters, software issues raised by agents and agents’ staffs.
  3. Assist designated legal staff underwriters on commercial transactions by ordering UCC statements, ordering and reviewing searches, preparing title policies, confirming quotes and coordinating with Reinsurance Administrator when necessary.
  4. Provide policy preparation services for requesting agents.
  5. Coordinate work received from coalition members by assigning searches, closing, etc.
  6. Answer routine calls generated by member receipt of policy processing deficiency letters.
  7. Provide support for field Agent Services Representatives.
  8. Provide input to field Agent Services Representatives about members and their staffs.
  9. Completely familiarize self with Company’s top members and their staffs and their likes/dislikes in order to provide high service level.
  10. Back-up other areas of the Company as necessary.
  11. Compliance and adherence at all times with the organization’s Code of Ethics and Conduct as well as all of our company’s policies.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a commercial real estate paralegal
  • Proficiency with real estate closing software.
  • Knowledge of windows computer environment and Microsoft office products.
