Position Overview
Johnson Law Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Workers’ Compensation team in our Chicago office. This role supports attorneys throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases and is ideal for a paralegal who is either experienced in workers’ compensation or interested in developing specialization in this area of law. The position works closely with attorneys and clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive paralegal support throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
- Draft and prepare workers’ compensation documents including applications, petitions, responses, and settlement agreements for attorney review.
- Organize, review, and summarize medical records relevant to workers’ compensation claims.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Apply Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission rules and procedures for filings, hearings, and case progression.
- Conduct factual and legal research related to Illinois workers’ compensation claims.
- Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness files.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records within the firm’s case management system.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a paralegal, preferably in workers’ compensation or personal injury.
- Familiarity with Illinois Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures.
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team-based environment.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to client service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
- Paralegal certificate.
- Bilingual proficiency.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay range of $31.25–$36.06 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
