Tycko & Zavareei LLP is seeking applications from Washington, DC Metro Area licensed attorneys and JD-holders for the full-time role of Staff Attorney/Clerk. This is a long-term career position, allowing work from home in the DC Metro Area, with an anticipated January 2026 start date.

ABOUT THE ROLE: Career Staff Attorney/Clerk (JD)
Tycko & Zavareei LLP is a small public interest law firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and California. Our practice includes representing whistleblowers (“relators”) in False Claims Act qui tam cases nationwide.
This position will directly support 2–3 partners responsible for assisting the U.S. Department of Justice with False Claims Act qui tam investigations. This is a career position designed for a mature individual who values long-term stability, predictable hours, and meaningful work but is not seeking partnership track or career advancement. The ideal candidate will be a licensed attorney, but we will also consider JD holders.
Hours/Schedule: Full-time exempt; 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday
Location: Washington, DC / Primarily remote with occasional need to perform in-office tasks

The compensation range for this role is $110,000 – $150,000 annually, with final offered salary dependent upon qualifications and relevant professional experience, consistent with the following:

Responsibilities:
- Help manage an active docket including all administrative work
- Communicate daily (by email, phone, and videoconference) with potential whistleblowers to evaluate their allegations, develop facts, and determine whether to retain them as clients
- Communicate and build relationships with Whistleblowers (qui tam relators) and potential clients.
- Review the whistleblower/client’s evidence to help evaluate fraud
- Work with complex data sets in Excel
- Perform investigative research using electronic tools and proprietary databases
- Prepare presentations to the Department of Justice and defendants in PowerPoint
- Research and comprehend intricate regulations and complex industries (healthcare, government contracting, cybersecurity) and draft summaries for use in complaints and work product to the Department of Justice
- Take notes during meetings with clients and Department of Justice attorneys and agencies
- Communicate and coordinate with government attorneys and agencies
- Assist with drafting, filing, and serving complaints, other pleadings, and disclosure packages to the government and coordinating with local counsel (all the mechanics)
- Research discrete legal issues on a case-by-case basis
- Preferred: Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Also considered: JD holders
- Absolutely required:
- High proficiency with all Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for daily use
- Proactive and resourceful work style, and ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Seeking long-term stability in an impactful non-partner track career
Compensation:
The compensation range for this role is $110,000 – $150,000 annually, with final offered salary dependent upon qualifications and relevant professional experience, consistent with the following:
- Licensed Attorney: $120,000 – $150,000
- JD, not barred: $110,000 – $130,000
