Trial Attorney (Hybrid)

The Trial Attorney (Hybrid) will represent and advise policyholders on various legal issues and in different forums including court, arbitrations and mediations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct and/or defend Depositions and take Examinations Under Oath.
• Defend by trial or pre-trial proceedings NYCM insureds.
• Report on a timely basis to NYCM Claims Department.
• Manage a caseload of litigated files.
• Handles simple and moderate personal lines cases through trial, arbitration or appeal for clients on cases assigned.
• Perform legal research.
• Effectively negotiate settlements.
• Attend hearings and conduct trials.
• Consult with clients, opposing counsel and the judiciary.
• Prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and answer/discovery as required and other legal documents.
• Assist other attorneys.
• Any other duties assigned.

Requirements: 

• Juris Doctorate Degree from an Accredited Law School
• Experience organizing and prioritizing a case workload and meet deadlines

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Strong working knowledge of civil litigation and trial process. 
• Strong working knowledge of personal lines insurance policies and practices.
•   Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, detail oriented, and documentation skills.
•  Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
•  Strong negotiation skills.
•  Ability to prioritize tasks and take ownership of decisions.

Market Range: 14 / Exempt / 40 hours per week / Hybrid - 2 Days in Office

Salary: $84,200 - $140,300
