If you have knowledge of NYS Eviction Law, enjoy navigating the court systems, assisting with potential evictions and like to help others; please apply for the Housing Support Legal Advocate position!
Responsibilities:
Provide housing support to families/individuals facing eviction and other housing issues.
Assist clients with preventing eviction.
Accompany clients to eviction court.
Provide referrals and linkages to supportive services.
Provide assistance in finding safe affordable housing.
Provide education regarding tenant rights and responsibilities.
Develop and maintain dynamic relationships both internally and externally.
Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.
Requirements:
Bachelors or Associates Degree in either: Social Services or Criminal Justice preferred. Alternatively, a Paralegal Certificate will be considered. At least 1-year experience in landlord/tenant work such as assisting clients with housing and eviction matters. Knowledge of NYS eviction law is required. Valid New York State driver license is required. Must be comfortable accompanying clients to court and advocating in a courtroom setting. Must be organized and very well spoken.
