About the Position: This position is located with the Headquarters Department of the Army, U.S. Army Inspector General Agency, Office of Legal Counsel at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Serves as an Attorney Adviser in the Office of the Legal Counsel to The Inspector General of the U.S. Army.
- Provides legal advice to the Chief, Legal Counsel, TIG, the Deputy The Inspector General (DTIG), the Principal Director to TIG for Inspections, and members of the US Army Inspector General Agency and inspectors general throughout the Army.
- Conducts extensive research to advise on the production of reports of investigative inquiry and reports of investigation on senior officials.
- Provides complex investigations and legal conclusions that are subject to review at the highest levels of Government including the Secretaries of the Army and Defense and the United States Senate.
- Advises on the interpretation of laws, statutes, regulations, and other directives affecting matters of IG interest.
- Instructs on legal aspects of IG activities, ethics, and standards of conduct issues and records release for inspector general and attorney training courses as directed by the Chief, Legal Counsel.
- Reviews reports of Investigation on officials holding General Officer and Senior Executive Service Rank.
- Prepares legal review on Investigations and Inspections for The Inspector General
