Amazon Legal seeks an attorney to join our Regulatory, Operations and Clinical Legal Team supporting Amazon One Medical. The Corporate Counsel's work will include addressing healthcare regulations, evaluating new business opportunities and will be the lead attorney supporting the Quality, Population Health and Patient Safety teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate the combination of legal expertise and practical sensibility needed to be a trusted partner to our clients and mitigating key legal and reputational risks for our healthcare services. Critical to your success will be your ability to collaborate and work seamlessly across clinical, operational, business, patient safety and compliance functions, partnering with stakeholders across the organization to address the challenges and opportunities of a national primary care practice.
Key job responsibilities
- Advise teams developing new clinical service lines on Corporate Practice of Medicine, Fraud, Waste and Abuse, Anti-kickback and Physician Self-Referral (Stark) Law, ERISA, HIPAA, direct practice acts and insurance regulations
- Create scalable strategies at a national level for compliance with practice of medicine requirements, scope of practice for NPs, PAs, RNs, MAs, licensure, supervision, prescribing and telehealth
- Lead legal support for Quality, Population Health and Patient Safety teams and counsel on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act, human subject research regulations, FDA requirements and other healthcare regulations
- Consult and collaborate with healthcare compliance teams and litigation counsel on medical malpractice, board complaints, investigations
- Effectively utilize outside counsel and advisors
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience as a healthcare regulatory attorney, with at least 1 year preferred working in an in-house capacity in a health system, health tech organization, health plan or healthcare related government agency advising providers and health care business leaders.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
