JOB SUMMARY

The Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to the Legal Department’s attorneys on legal matters as well as answer phones, triage emails, perform initial reviews of legal requests and ensure that all legal documents are preserved in electronic format. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Custodian and gatekeeper of all communications to and within the Legal Department. eFile pleadings in Missouri state courts. Update and maintain an electronic database with real time data about legal matters. Invoice processing. Maintain calendars and organizes meetings and conference calls. Prepares reports, correspondence, and other special document/data gathering projects as needed. Must possess the ability to work independently on routine matters. Expected to seek guidance and accept supervision on more complicated matters or where substantial amounts of money or significant other risks to Saint Francis Healthcare System are involved. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

- High School diploma or GED- required

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience as a legal assistant in a healthcare setting or private law office- preferred

Certification & Licensures:

N/A

Experience:

Two years of experience in a legal office or legal assistant position is preferred.

- Strong analytical and writing skills with knowledge of proper grammar, spelling and rules of composition. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must have a proficient knowledge of computers and software systems including Microsoft Office products and the Internet. Must be able to work for prolonged periods of sitting, typing and use of the phone and computer. Must be detail-oriented and highly organized. Ability to work effectively, independently and with other team members in a fast-paced environment. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner with attention to detail. Ability to work in a highly sensitive and confidential environment.
