JOB DESCRIPTION—Staff Attorney

DEPARTMENT: Legal

REPORTS TO: General Counsel

SALARY RANGE: $185,000-$200,000


EXPERIENCE LEVEL: ASSOCIATE (1-3 years post bar admission)


ABOUT THE POSITION:

Century Housing seeks a staff attorney to join our legal department and provide comprehensive

legal support to our Lending Division. This role represents a strategic expansion of our in-house legal

capabilities. The staff counsel will work closely with Century’s Lending and Finance teams and will report

to the General Counsel. A growth path would exist via title improvements commensurate with experience

(i.e., Counsel, Senior Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, etc.) and additional growth in responsibilities as

collaboratively established with the employee (e.g., potential path to supervising other legal functions).


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. TRANSACTIONAL SUPPORT

 Actively participate as Century’s representative in transaction deal team calls.

 Assist in creation, drafting, review, and execution of loan documents in collaboration with legal

department and external representatives.

 Provide real-time legal support to loan officers and loan administration.


2. OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

 Serve as primary “on-call” resource for legal advice to resolve time-sensitive issues with

Borrowers and other parties to lending transactions.

 Collaborate with loan officers to deliver premiere service to Borrowers and each stage of the

life cycle of a loan.

 With assistance of General Counsel, develop, implement, and manage affordability monitoring

and compliance protocols for loan portfolio.

 Assist in preparation for and execution of meetings of the loan committee and Board of

Directors.


3. DOCUMENT AND PROCESS MANAGEMENT

 Assist in review and update to standard form documents.

 Contribute to process improvement development and implementation in collaboration with

Lending, Loan Administration, and Finance and Treasury Departments.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Juris doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school

 License to practice law in the State of California 1-3 years’ experience in real estate, secured lending, or affordable housing practice at AmLaw 100

or equivalent firm

 Passion for Century’s admission of financing and developing affordable housing.

 Strong understanding and experience of real estate lending principles and practices including

underwriting and documentation

 Capability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously

 Professional discretion and mindset
