Legal Knowledge and Innovation Developer

We are seeking a legal knowledge and innovation developer to join us on an exciting journey to transform our internal technology practices working closely with our chief legal officer. This new role is critical to ensuring our commitment to operational excellence and innovation. In this role you will be responsible for developing and executing a knowledge management strategy, leveraging AI and automation to modernize our legal team’s operations.   This role will work closely with attorneys, legal operations, IT, and leaders to build a knowledge management system and identify automation opportunities and build scalable, maintainable tools to support legal operations.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Legal technology and automation: 
    • Develop and execute to an automation and AI roadmap for the legal department.
    • Identify and lead implementation of AI tools and legal technology to streamline workflows 
    • Collaborate with attorneys, legal operations, IT, and other stakeholders to understand pain points and develop tech-based solutions to cover key practice areas, including legal document review and drafting, regulatory assessment, and legal research.
    • Manage document automation and deploy innovative technology tools to modernize the department’s legal services.
    • Evaluate vendors and software platforms.
  • Knowledge management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain a centralized knowledge management system for the legal department.
    • Capture institutional knowledge, legal know-how (research materials, forms, model documents, and other data compilations and precedents) and best practices and making them accessible and actionable. 
  • Innovation and change management: 
    • Drive adoption of new processes and tools through training, communication, and change management strategies.
    • Monitor legal tech trends and recommend innovations aligned with business needs. 
    • Measure impact and ROI of initiatives and tools implemented.
    • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change in a complex environment.


Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, J.D. preferred 
  • 7+ years of  in legal tech or within an in-house or law firm environment. 
  • Strong understanding of AI applications in legal (e.g., generative AI, legal research, contract analytics).
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and project management skills including data collection, data management 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with both legal and technical staff.
