THE OPPORTUNITY


Weintraub Tobin’s Century City office is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate with a minimum of three years of experience to handle cases in all phases of litigation, including legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, attending hearings and depositions, arguing motions, and assisting with trial preparation. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished academic background and exceptional research, writing, analytical and interpersonal skills.


The Los Angeles litigation practice represents businesses, business owners, and entertainment industry clients in sophisticated, complex disputes involving their most valuable assets. Our litigators handle a broad range of commercial and entertainment matters, including breach of contract claims, fraud claims, film and television distribution and licensing disputes, profit participation, intellectual property and digital media issues, private equity–related litigation, and sophisticated judgment enforcement. The practice is active in state and federal courts nationwide, as well as in arbitration and mediation, and regularly handles matters through trial and appeal. Associates work closely with experienced trial lawyers, receive meaningful responsibility, and gain hands-on experience across all phases of litigation while developing strategic, practical advocacy skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and support matters in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation strategy, pleadings, discovery, law and motion practice, trial preparation, and post-trial proceedings
  • Draft high-quality pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and settlement-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis on complex business and entertainment-related disputes
  • Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses for depositions, hearings, and trial
  • Appear at hearings, case management conferences, mediations, and arbitrations
  • Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit preparation, witness outlines, and coordination with experts
  • Collaborate closely with partners, senior associates, and clients to develop litigation strategy and manage cases efficiently
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and third-party vendors
  • Support matters involving entertainment industry clients, including disputes relating to contracts, intellectual property, production, and distribution, as well as general commercial and business litigation matters
Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
  • 3–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in business and/or entertainment litigation
  • Experience drafting dispositive and non-dispositive motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
  • Deposition experience (taking and/or defending) strongly preferred
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and client-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team

Salary range: $162,500-$192,500 (based upon years of experience)
