Job Description

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience in an administrative support role is required, with a preference for candidates who have supported multiple individuals in a legal or corporate environment.
  • Completion of paralegal training and/or familiarity with legal matter databases or other matter management applications is a plus.

Technological Proficiency:  Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. Willingness and ability to adapt and learn new technologies as necessary. Knowledge of Business Objects a plus.

Textron is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our world-class in-house Litigation team comprised of 16 highly collaborative lawyers and legal professionals. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting Textron’s Head of Litigation and the management of Textron’s diverse litigation docket, including products liability, contracts, labor & employment, and intellectual property.  Befitting a cutting-edge technology company, we employ leading technologies and data analytics to support our litigation program.  And we value accountability and offer opportunities for career development within the organization.

JOB SUMMARY

The person in this role will perform administrative and case management support for Textron internal legal counsel and staff. The selected candidate will be customer service driven and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. This position is responsible for generating documents and reports, gathering data, and managing new incoming matter assignments, while working directly with Senior Management at Textron, and with its attorneys, legal professionals, retained counsel, vendors, and other functions at Textron’s World Headquarters in Providence (RI) and throughout Textron’s international network of businesses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General Administrative Functions, including:

  • Manage regular office administrative tasks such as sorting/responding to mail, managing multiple calendars, ordering supplies, providing ad hoc support to staff, screening calls and taking messages.
  • Produce correspondence, spreadsheets, reports and other documents. Schedule travel arrangements and process expenses for payment.
  • Set up meetings and ensure proper technical support is provided.
  • Participate in the electronic and offsite records management process for the Litigation Group.
  • Provide occasional administrative backup for Textron’s Executive V.P. & General Counsel.
  • Participate in onboarding of new legal staff and student interns.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Utilize the legal department electronic matter management application (TeamConnect) and/or other electronic systems as necessary, including\:

  • Prepare and request payments for invoices as required, and ensure payments are made.
  • Enter important claims data into TeamConnect, including information necessary to maintain updated contact cards for outside counsel, vendors, and other entities.  
  • Support paralegal and claims manager in receiving, acknowledging, and distributing lawsuits and other legal matters served on Textron and its businesses to appropriate attorney.
  • Support paralegal and claims manager in receiving and assigning new litigation matters within Litigation Department, and assisting responsible attorney in providing information to outside counsel, insurers and third-party administrators.
  • Assist with monthly HR Compliance training and other training provided by the Litigation Group.
  • Support Legal Operations team with various process tasks.

Support the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel – Litigation including:

  • Generate weekly case reports.
  • Collaborate with finance function and company’s auditors in preparing quarterly certification letters and annual law firm audit letters for Deputy General Counsel’s signature.
  • Maintain and update annual report of Litigation Controls.
  • Manage calendar for Deputy General Counsel, including setting up Litigation Group and individual meetings.
  • Coordinate quarterly claims reviews for each Textron business with Deputy General Counsel and Textron’s General Counsel.
  • Manage bar dues, group memberships, and subscriptions for the Litigation Group.
