This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Anaconda, Inc. We are currently looking for a Director, Commercial Legal in the United States.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the commercial legal function supporting high-impact go-to-market operations. You will negotiate and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, provide strategic legal guidance, and drive operational improvements across contracting processes. The role combines deep legal expertise with commercial insight, requiring collaboration across sales, partnerships, and professional services teams. You will mentor and develop legal talent while shaping scalable legal solutions in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This position is fully remote, providing flexibility while allowing you to make a measurable impact on business objectives and enterprise-level operations.

Accountabilities

  • Negotiate, draft, and manage commercial agreements with customers, partners, suppliers, and vendors to support business goals while mitigating risk.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to revenue teams, including enterprise, mid-market, and commercial sales, as well as customer success and professional services teams.
  • Lead operational enhancements for contracting processes, software integrations, data reporting, and other go-to-market legal functions.
  • Define and implement commercial legal metrics, optimizing performance indicators such as time to markup, time to close, and deal size.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal teams, providing training, coaching, and mentorship to legal staff.
  • Support complex or strategic litigation matters and intellectual property issues as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to solve legal issues in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.


Requirements
  • JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
  • 12+ years of relevant legal experience, with progressive responsibility in-house.
  • Proven expertise in commercial agreements and intellectual property licenses, including SaaS, partnership, professional services, and vendor contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property law, AI, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience driving operational processes, systems, and scalable legal solutions.
  • Excellent ability to manage priorities, collaborate cross-functionally, and mentor team members.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with a commercial mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with open-source software legal considerations.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and ecosystem.
  • Background in high-growth company environments.
  • Curiosity, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and impact.
