- Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- REGULATION DEVELOPMENT AND GENERAL LAW ATTORNEY: Provides legal representation and guidance for the Undersecretary, Other Executive Staff, and the Department on legal matters as follows: Assists in writing and the development, drafting, and review of proposed agency regulations.
- Advises the Undersecretary and Human Resources Director on human resources and employment law matters.
- Advises the agency on collections of delinquent fees and refers files to (Office of Debt Recovery (ODR for collection. Advises the agency on matters involving bankruptcy of regulated entities.
- Reviews confidentiality requests, contracts, RFPs, and public record requests for the agency. Draft and review proposed legislation for the department and monitor bills during the Legislative Session
- PERMITS ATTORNEY: Provides legal representation and guidance to the Office of Environmental Services and the Department on legal matters involving permit issues.
- Represents the Department in various adversarial matters before administrative tribunals, state and federal district courts, and state and federal appellate courts.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Either a probationary appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of a permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probationary appointment should funding become available.
Domicile: East Baton Rouge
Career Progression: Attorney 1-Attorney 3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.- Attorney 1- $27.08 per hour or $2,166.40 Biweekly
- Attorney 2- $28.98 per hour or $2,318.40 Biweekly
- Attorney 3- $32.02 per hour or $2,561.60 Biweekly
