About Us: Join our innovative IP department at Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, part of the Ono Pharmaceutical group. We are a close-knit Legal and Compliance team, shortlisted for In-House Intellectual Property Team of the Year 2024.
The Role: We are seeking an experienced IP practitioner to manage a variety of projects and support company-wide needs at our growing, global biopharmaceutical company. You will work directly with the Vice President, global Head of Intellectual Property, and be involved in all aspects of U.S. and ex-US patent prosecution related to Chemistry IP, including small molecules, formulation, and process chemistry. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to expand your practice to due diligence, litigation support, enforcement, licensing, and regulatory issues.
- Draft patent applications and develop global prosecution strategies.
- Perform comprehensive searches of patent databases.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for R&D groups.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the business and its IP portfolio.
- Review patent-related documents for technical accuracy.
- Provide guidance on patent and trade secret matters.
- Travel up to 20% as needed.
- Advanced scientific degree (Ph.D. preferred, MS considered).
- Registration with the USPTO.
- PhD with 8+ years of combined relevant experience in law firm/biotech setting OR MS with 12+ years of combined relevant experience in law firm/biotech setting
- Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- In-house experience at a biopharmaceutical company.
- Strong interpersonal skills and service-oriented disposition.
- Proficiency in MS Suite applications, ChemDraw, SciFinder, and other IP software.
Deciphera is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $211,000.00 - $290,00.00. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.
