Senior Criminal Defense Trial Attorney
Full-Time | On-Site | Fort Lauderdale, FL | $155,000–$185,000 + Benefits


Mayersohn Law Group, P.A. is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Trial Attorney to serve as lead counsel on high-stakes felony and federal criminal cases. This role is ideal for an experienced criminal defense attorney with significant jury trial experience (50+ trials preferred) who can independently manage cases from intake through trial and resolution.

This position is best suited for a senior-level trial attorney with a strong courtroom presence, prior prosecutorial experience (preferred), and the ability to develop and execute strategic criminal defense litigation plans in complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

Criminal Defense Litigation

  • Serve as lead criminal defense attorney on felony and high-exposure cases
  • Handle all aspects of criminal litigation, including hearings, negotiations, and jury trials
  • Maintain ownership of cases from intake through final resolution
  • Deliver strong courtroom advocacy and trial performance

Case Strategy and Analysis

  • Develop strategic defense plans based on early case evaluation
  • Analyze evidence, identify legal risks, and position cases effectively
  • Leverage prosecutorial insight to anticipate opposing arguments
  • Exercise sound judgment in high-pressure legal situations

Trial Preparation and Legal Writing

  • Draft and argue motions, briefs, and legal filings
  • Prepare cases for trial with organized, trial-ready documentation
  • Conduct legal research and apply analytical reasoning
  • Manage deadlines across multiple active cases

Client and Team Communication

  • Communicate clearly with clients and manage expectations
  • Provide direct, strategic legal guidance
  • Collaborate with legal staff while maintaining case ownership
  • Contribute to a results-focused legal team environment

Qualifications

Required

  • Criminal defense attorney experience with increasing responsibility
  • Significant jury trial experience (50+ trials preferred)
  • Experience handling felony criminal cases
  • Active Florida Bar license in good standing
  • Ability to meet billable hour requirements

Preferred

  • Former prosecutor experience
  • Federal criminal case experience
  • Experience with post-conviction motions
