ROLEWe are seeking an experienced Victim & Witness Specialist to support the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), Northern District of Georgia. Your scope of work includes providing direct legal support, clerical and administrative assistance, managing case-related documents, coordinating with witnesses, and ensuring compliance with Department of Justice (DOJ) regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide witness management assistance prior to, during, and after trial
- Work directly with fact witnesses
- Help and support to ensure appearance for court, pre-trial conferences, and grand jury
- Receive visitors
- Field phone calls, questions, and other inquiries from fact witnesses seeking information
- Obtain pertinent information for files and documents necessary to arrange witness travel and reimbursements
- Initiate contact/notify fact witnesses concerning travel arrangements and appearance date/time
- Determine any special circumstances or needs of the fact witness
- Use judgment to determine when AUSA should be notified of special circumstances or needs of fact witnesses
- Confer with AUSA concerning fact witness appearance and special circumstances regarding witnesses
- Complete and submit documentation for special authorizations and obtain prior approval before proceeding with travel arrangements
- Ensure all travel documents and appearance date and time have been provided to witness prior to appearance
- Make necessary arrangements for fact witness travel and lodging according to Department of Justice and USAO policies
- Meet with fact witnesses upon arrival to designated hearing or pre-trial conference
- Assist with and perform courtroom orientations as needed
- Accompany witnesses to court when needed
- Ensure a safe waiting area is available
- Collect necessary documentation and signatures for fact witness reimbursement documents
- Prepare and submit documentation for fact witness reimbursement (e.g., witness vouchers, etc.)
- Furnish requested information concerning pending and completed fact witness vouchers
- Gather required documentation and assist with reconciliation of Government Travel Accounts
- Obtain information, confer, and coordinate with the Court, Probation, Pretrial, U.S. Marshals Service, investigative agencies, etc. when necessary
- Complete variable aspects of recurring documents in conformance with the rules governing their style and format
- Compose original letters that require knowledge of legal procedures and terminology relevant to fact witness laws
- Perform office task related to fact witness management (e.g., establish/maintain fact witness files, documents, and databases)
- Assemble documents for fact witness files according to established procedures and DOJ regulations
- Establish and maintain a calendar and/or database of active and pending fact witness appearances if requested
- Track hearings, trial dates, grand jury, and scheduling conferences
- Perform other administrative and logistical fact witness management related duties as required/assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of witness management procedures and protocols preferred
- Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology relevant to fact witness laws/regulations preferred
- Knowledge of software used by the USAO preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
BACKGROUND
- Exp. working with witnesses preferred
- Exp. in customer service preferred
- Exp. in general office procedures, file management, and database maintenance preferred
- Exp. in working within a legal setting preferred
EDUCATION
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
