Speaks Law Firm is seeking a Balance Clerk to join our legal team in Charlotte. The Balance Clerk reviews and analyzes account balances including liens, medical bill statements, health insurance payments and adjustments. This position will report to our Charlotte office and business hours are Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:30pm.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Review and analyze account balances including liens, medical bill statements, health insurance payments and adjustments, and client payments
- Communicate with debt collection companies and secure account numbers and payment instructions as needed
- Subrogation to include setting up health insurance lien, requesting liens every 30-60 days and entering this information into case management software
- Verify and process invoices related to case expenses and enter information into case management software
- Manage and maintain accurate balance sheets with updated balances, costs, and lien information
- Respond to inquiries from insurance adjusters, providers and other parties regarding account balances and distribution
- Assist with the preparation of provider reduction requests and settlement distributions
- Data entry to Neos Case Management Software
- Maintain integrity and confidentiality of client financial information
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff as needed
- Attend weekly and biweekly meetings as scheduled
- Other clerical duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required
- Associate’s degree in business administration, criminal justice, or related field of study preferred
- At least two (2) years of experience in general office work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Understanding of legal language and principles, and other related processes
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Willingness to help others
- Attention to detail and professional work ethic
- Passion for advocating for our clients and maintaining a positive attitude required
