Full-Time Deputy Clerk Position
Education/Experience Requirements: The candidate must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and have a minimum of three years clerical support experience. The candidate must have a knowledge of business and legal English, spelling, arithmetic, and modern office practices and principles. It is preferred that the candidate have a knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and the laws, rules, and regulations governing the filing and recording of legal instruments. The candidate must have the ability to type at least 35 wpm. The candidate must be skilled in general computer operations. The candidate must have the ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public, County officials, attorneys and other employees and be tactful in difficult situations.
Job Descriptions/Responsibilities: The position to be filled is for a Full-Time Deputy Clerk who shall serve at the discretion of the Chief Magistrate Judge and Chief Deputy Clerk and shall have the following responsibilities:
- Assume duties of the Clerk of the Court as required;
- Receives, records, and files documents;
- Assures scheduling of cases and hearings;
- Prepares and types a variety of documents and records;
- Collects, receipts, and accounts for money;
- Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public;
- Operates various office machines with emphasis on personal computers;
- Regular and predictable attendance is required;
- Follows all office procedures and processes;
- Answers incoming calls assisting the public and other court departments;
- Files documents in a timely and efficient manner;
- Lift and transport items approximately 10lbs.
Salary: $20.00 per hour for 40 hours per week.
