Position Overview: We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic 2nd-year law students to join our Future Legal Leaders Internship Program. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to various aspects of the legal profession, including legal research, writing, and professional development. Interns will work alongside paralegals and attorneys, participating in workshops, site visits, and hands-on projects, gaining practical skills and knowledge that will be invaluable to their future legal careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Careers Exploration: Attend sessions with attorneys and legal professionals to learn about different career paths in law.
  • Courtroom Experience: Visit local courts, observe proceedings, and participate in workshops on courtroom etiquette and roles.
  • Legal Research and Writing: Assist with drafting documents, conducting research, and leading workshops on legal research and writing.
  • Ethics and Responsibility: Engage in discussions on legal ethics and professional responsibility through workshops and Socratic discussions.
  • Office Tasks: Support essential office tasks such as preparing client case files for court, scanning incoming documents, and organizing information to ensure smooth office operations.
  • Legal Assistance: Provide support in drafting legal documents, conducting case research, preparing case summaries, and assisting attorneys with trial preparation.

Qualifications:

  • 2nd-year law student with an interest in pursuing a professional legal career.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.

Commitment & Compensation:

  • Interns must commit to a minimum of 5-10 hours per week.
  • This is an unpaid internship. However, there is a possibility for stipends at the end of the internship, based on performance and contributions.
  • Interns can apply their internship hours towards course credits, subject to approval by their educational institution.
