Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished prosecutor for a Bureau Chief position in our Frauds Bureau.

The Frauds Bureau is solely dedicated to catching criminals who prey on the vulnerable, exploit the elderly, line their pockets with government revenue and anyone else who uses financial schemes to victimize the innocent.  The Frauds Bureau investigates and prosecutes a wide variety of complex financial crimes.

The Frauds Bureau partners with Federal, State and Local agencies to investigate crimes while also proactively investigating emerging scams.  The Frauds Bureau uses a full spectrum of investigative tools to investigate and prosecute fraudsters, including electronic and physical surveillance, undercover operations, developing informants and cooperating witnesses, financial document review, subpoenaing bank and financial institutions and executing search warrants to return ill-gotten funds to their rightful owner and deprive fraudsters of the financial incentive to commit crimes.

The Frauds Bureau investigates allegations of:

  • investment scams, romance scams, and insurance scams,
  • employee embezzlements,
  • financial crimes against the elderly,
  • insurance crimes,
  • trademark counterfeiting, and
  • financial crimes against government revenue.   

Qualifications: Candidates should have extensive experience investigating and trying complex and challenging cases.

Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 15 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:

  • Extensive experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution.
  • White-Collar and tax crimes experience.
  • Electronic Communications Interception experience.
  • Substantial felony jury trial experience.
  • Prior experience managing attorneys and support staff.
  • Supervising on-call riding attorneys.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

This position will require the ability to manage a staff of senior assistants, including paralegals and detectives, and to be always accessible to the District Attorney, Chief Assistant, and Executive of the Investigations Division.

Salary: 202,731.00.
