Summary
DLA Piper is seeking a highly sophisticated, non-partner track Senior Attorney to serve as a primary legal engine for complex client portfolios. This is not a traditional "back-office" role; it is designed for a dynamic practitioner who thrives on high-level execution and deeply embedding themselves within a client’s operational DNA. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between high-level private equity structuring and day-to-day corporate governance, acting as a versatile legal architect for sophisticated family offices and international entities. This position is open to our New York office.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complex Deal Structuring & Execution
- Overseeing the deal process with PE, family offices and sovereign funds across LP investments.
- Overseeing specialist counsel focused on tax structures and financing agreements related to various acquisitions.
2. General Corporate Counsel
- Serve as the "connective tissue" across various workstreams, ensuring that board minutes, operating agreements, and commercial contracts are consistent with the client’s overarching strategic goals.
- Provide proactive risk management and advisory on corporate governance for multi-jurisdictional entities.
Desired Skills
- The "Deep Dive" Mentality: A proven ability to go beyond the "legal task" to understand the underlying business mechanics of a deal.
- Autonomy: High emotional intelligence and the ability to interface directly with principals, CFOs, and outside advisors without constant partner supervision.
Minimum Education
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
Minimum Years of Experience
- 6+ years of high-level corporate law experience, ideally within a Vault 50 firm or a sophisticated boutique focusing on PE/M&A.

Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Pay Transparency
The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $250,000 - $400,000 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
