We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our in-house legal team for the following dates this summer, from 5/19 to 8/08. As a summer intern, you will work closely with our legal department to support the company’s legal needs, focusing on various aspects of corporate law and tort defense, including litigation, real estate, and contracts. This is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing industry.

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research on a variety of topics, including environmental regulations, litigation claims, and real estate issues.
  • Litigation Support: Assist in drafting research memoranda, case summaries, and reports on current or pending litigation claims.
  • Real Estate: Review and analyze real estate documents, including lease agreements, property purchases, and zoning laws, and prepare summaries for internal stakeholders.
  • Contract Review: Assist in reviewing contracts, amendments, and agreements related to waste management operations and provide feedback on compliance and risk.
  • Legal Drafting: Assist in drafting and revising legal documents such as contracts, notices, and internal communications.
  • General Administrative Support: Provide additional support to the legal team as needed, including organizing files, maintaining legal documentation, and assisting in special projects.

 

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

  • Currently pursuing a J.D. degree (Juris Doctor) 
  • Strong interest in corporate law, litigation, environmental law, or real estate law.

 

Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:

  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10lbs.
  • Continuously sitting/standing/walking in office environment.

 

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
