Job Description

IPRO is currently recruiting for an Attorney to work in our Headquarter office located in Jericho, NY.  This individual is responsible for assisting in the administration of the corporate legal and compliance programs including the provision of legal advice and counsel, document drafting, policy and procedure development, investigations, internal audits, and staff training as well as clinical support for external appeals and independent dispute resolution reviews.  Duties will include but are not limited to: drafting, reviewing and negotiating terms and conditions of legal documents such as leases, contracts, privacy, and security agreements, etc. within prescribed timeframes. Assisting in implementation of programs, policies, and business practices to ensure that all departments are in compliance with applicable statutes and regulations. Developing and providing employee training on legal and compliance-related topics, policies,or procedures.  Assessing product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies; identifying reported issues that require follow-up or investigation and conducting internal investigations of detected compliance issues. Conducting periodic internal reviews or audits; Maintaining documentation of compliance activities, complaints and investigation outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively with staff, at all levels in the organization, as well as with representatives from external agencies and organizations.
  • Strong negotiation skills for settling disputes and negotiating contracts.
  • Strong analytical thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Knowledge of health care compliance concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with compliance auditing and investigative techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software programs.

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the New York Bar.
  • Four (4) years of experience (in-house, government or law firm) interpreting or handling matters involving healthcare regulatory and compliance matters.


The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The annualized salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $145,000.00.  Actual salary range and /or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget.
 

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
