Job Description

Credigy has an immediate need for an experienced transactional attorney to join our team headquartered in northeast Atlanta. Our in-house legal team has a unique structure with distinct functions focused on transactions, regulatory compliance, general corporate governance work and dispute resolution. This opportunity will be focused specifically on the transaction/deal side of our business. This is a unique role where you can leverage law firm transactional experience in an in-house role at a sophisticated banking and finance company.

As the legal expert staffed on our deal teams, we expect our transaction attorneys to partner with business development, pricing, and other internal counterparts throughout the entire deal life-cycle to negotiate, structure, close and manage deals. You will be exposed to a variety of complex transactions, across multiple asset classes within the consumer finance sector, including both direct acquisitions and structured finance deals. Our transaction attorneys often rely on strong relationships with leading external counsel as we evaluate the legal and business issues associated with each transaction. While operating in a collaborative team environment, our attorneys have increasing autonomy as they strengthen their understanding of our industry and our business. You should have a keen interest in understanding our business. Additional responsibilities may include traditional in-house legal functions such as general corporate governance, vendor contracts, servicing agreements and legal and regulatory compliance, as necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • A JD degree from a top-tier law school is required; we are looking for candidates who graduated from a top 25 law school or near the top of their class; and
  • 4+ years of transaction experience working on complex structured finance, M&A, or banking transactions (at least 2 of which should be at an AmLaw 100 firm).
  • Ideal candidates will have significant law firm deal experience as well as some in-house transactional experience.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to thrive in our high-demand, high-growth environment, and the compensation structure for our legal team aligns with those expectations. This is a unique opportunity to work in-house at a dynamic company, while maintaining a focus on sophisticated transaction work.

Founded in 2001, Credigy is a global specialty finance company with flexibility across the capital structure to acquire or finance a broad range of consumer assets. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Bank of Canada (NBC) and our $9.1B+ portfolio represents 400+ deals and $32B+ in total investments life-to-date. We are the partner of choice when financial institutions face complex challenges and strategic changes. If you haven’t heard of us yet, we’re okay with that — we focus on serving our business partners, not making a name for ourselves.

We are proud of our people-first company culture that has been recognized year-over-year as a Top Workplace both in Atlanta and nationally. What matters to you, matters to us so we go beyond the usual benefits to offer meaningful perks that support professional growth, personal connection, and a life outside the office. Early in the hiring process, we partner with you on our innovative, personalized flexible work program to maximize compatibility between your needs and the business from day one. Our priority is hiring top talent and helping you create a career you love.

Credigy is a workplace that is free of discrimination and full of opportunity.
