The Behavioral & Social Sciences (BSS) Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at the Prescott Campus invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor position in Legal Studies, beginning August 2025.
This position will primarily focus on teaching undergraduate courses in legal studies, including but not limited to: Introduction to the U.S. Legal System, Courts and Criminal Justice, and Procedures and Evidence.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about undergraduate education and dedicated to preparing students for careers related to law, criminal justice, security and intelligence, and public policy. Many of these courses are taken by students across different programs, reflecting the interdisciplinary importance of legal studies within the university.
The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) is part of the College of Arts and Sciences and is home to three growing undergraduate psychology programs: Forensic Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and Human Factors Psychology. The department is committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where faculty work together as a team to ensure student success. We value a team-oriented approach and seek a new faculty member who shares this commitment to collaboration and dedication to student achievement.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated ability or potential to teach undergraduate legal studies courses.
• Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, and curriculum development.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience practicing law or working within the court system or for criminal justice.
